Meet the Cast of Don Giovanni (Part 2)

Anthony Rodrigues is a Toronto based Baritone and can be seen this season returning to Abridged

Opera Company as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte and with Vera Causa Opera as Masetto in Don Giovanni. Originally from Montréal, Québec, Anthony’s recent operatic credits include The Sergeant of Police in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance, Mr. Gobineau in Menotti’s The Medium, Peter in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, Papageno in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Sulpice in Donizetti’s La fille du régiment, Colline in Puccini’s La Bohème, Will Parker in Rogers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!, The Gamekeeper in Dvorak’s Rusalka and Le premier ministre in Massenet’s Cendrillon. He has been engaged by festivals and companies including Shoestring Opera, Toronto Operetta Theatre, Golden Classical Music Society, Opera Nuova, Halifax Summer Opera Festival, Vox Musicae, Accademia Europea dell’Opera, Opera in Concert, Vera Causa Opera and Abridged Opera Company. Anthony’s passion to perform has brought him to the stage in the style of musical theatre, classical ballet, oratorio and art song.

Fun Fact: Once while serving in a restaurant, Anthony accidentally lit a woman’s hair on fire with her birthday cake.

Dylon Pastoor is a fourth-year French horn performance student at Wilfrid Laurier with the intentions

of furthering his musical development in graduate studies over the next couple of years. Throughout his undergraduate career at Laurier, he has been found in the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra for two years, the latter being principal horn, multiple brass/wind chamber groups, and two musical shows with The Community Players of New Hamburg as lead horn. Currently Dylon is the 4th horn of the Stratford Symphony, 2nd horn and acting principal of the KW Chamber Orchestra, a lead horn of the WLU Symphony Orchestra, the horn player for Chaplin’s Brass, and a member of the Lyra Quintet.

Jillian Carney is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Orchestral Performance at Wilfrid Laurier University under the tutelage of Dr. Amy Hamilton. She has performed will several orchestras including Wilfrid Laurier University Symphony Orchestra, Kitchener-Waterloo Youth Orchestra, and Spiritus Ensemble. In 2016 she attended Orford Music Academy in Quebec, and she has also attended National Flute Conventions in Chicago and Washington. This is her third production with Vera Causa Opera and she looks forward to pursuing a career in music performance.

Fun fact: Jillian lives every day as if it were a Broadway musical.
